The food was bland and tasteless. The only spice seemed to be salt. The waitress was slow, overly apologetic, and not familiar with the menu. The drinks were watery and made with syrupy mix. For 10 bucks I expect a decent marg. I can say that I have only been disappointed by a restaurant a handful of times, but my trip to El Burrito Loco ranks as one of those bad experiences.
The food is excellent. I have never had a bad meal here. Open mindedness about the staff etiquette is an asset to enjoying the experience and the 'authenticity' is questionable but hey...if you want 5 star service, go to Brewbakers, if you want a comfortable, relaxing, family friendly meal, head here. Only complaint is it is a bit pricey for a 'beans and rice' meal....
I don't know WHAT I was served at El Burrito Loco, but it wasn't Mexican, and I don't know if it could properly be defined as food. The owner/head chef also serves as matire'd and waiter, and brings a whole new meaning to the word surly. I don't know who decides Where to Eat in Canada but potential clientele should be forewarned that it is Where to Potentially Contract Ptomaine in Canada - the half of my food that wasn't burnt to a crisp and hidden under an avocado-colored goo was soggy, half-cooked and lukewarm. When we expressed our displeasure - after being cornered by the owner's wife to REALLY tell her what we thought - she became defensive and hostile, acusing us of being unfamiliar with the cuisine of Puerto Vallarta. Having married into a Mexican-American family myself and being extensively traveled, I can assure you that our unpleasant experience with El Burrito Loco had NOTHING to do with the variances of regional cuisine, and everything to do with poor preparation and shoddy service.
A Hidden Jewel in downtown Fredericton
Best Mexican food I've had in Canada. I've always been waited on promptly and pleasently and the food is great. You can't go wrong with this one.
My favorite.
This place has the best Mexican cuisine outside of Mexico. Great staff, great atmosphere, fast service... can't ask for anything more.
The food here is incredible. Authentic Mexican food (not texmex). The service however is an experience. If you can laugh at the most deplorable service you will ever recieve from Gail, one of the owners) you can have a fun night out with spectacular food.
